Yamazaki is Suntory's flagship single malt whisky, from Japan's first and oldest malt distillery. This 12 year old first came onto the market in 1984 and was the first seriously marketed Japanese single malt whisky. Since then, it has acquired something of a cult following, and for good reason! A wonderfully elegant and smooth single malt that’s certainly not lacking in flavour
Hibiki means “Resonance” in Japanese. From its launch in 1989 to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of Suntory, Hibiki embodies the Suntory philosophy to live in harmony with nature and people. As the Founding House of Japanese Whisky and A House of Master Blenders, the House of Suntory has gone to great lengths to explore the breadth and depth of what Harmony can mean for a blend. Every Hibiki expression is one of the most sought after blends in the world where every Hibiki expression is meticulously crafted for us to discover a different kind of Harmony. Achieving the right balance and orchestration proved to be a great challenge from the start since the Sakura cask is one with strong character that can easily become overbearing.
After much trial and error, we found that the grain whiskies finished in the Sakura cask best elevated the overall balance as a Blossoming Harmony slowly unfolding. The end result is a particularly unique expression of Hibiki. The invitation of an enticing floral bouquet, followed by the signature Hibiki depth and complexity of honey, candied orange peel, jasmine and chocolatey decadence, all climaxing to a surprising finish of bitter sweet spicy notes.

Subtle, tender long finish, with hint of Mizunara (Japanese oak)
The Suntory whiskies are handcrafted at Japan's oldest distillery, built by the founder of Suntory--Shinjiro Torii--in 1923. This was named "Best in Class" at the International Wine & Spirits Competition in 2006 and awarded a Double Gold Medal at the 2005 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. This will wow any fan of single malt whisky with its spicy cherry, date, toffee and orange notes and its long, dry finish.
Aged predominantly in umeshu (Japanese apricot liqueur) casks, Hibiki is soft, spicy, round and smooth with no heat from ethanol and barely any tannin. There are notes of dark fruit compote, lapin cherry, and the sweetest kind of cigar smoke, more of a vanilla e-cigarette. The palate is buttery, round and soft; the finish long.

Nikka From The Barrel is a blended whisky which was released in 1985. The development of this expression started with an aim to deliver full flavors and richness of whisky like "from the barrel", which only blenders can sniff and taste. The secret behind its gorgeous flavor is the unique combination of complex blending, higher ABV 51.4% and "marriage" process.
The iconic square bottle reflects its concept "a small block of whisky" and embodies the intense and rich flavors of the whisky inside. Long after its launch, this bottle is still timeless and recognized for its ultimate simplicity.
The complex formula is created by blending more than 100 different batches of malt and grain whiskies. After blending, the whisky is filled into used barrels and matured for another few months. This "marriage" process harmonizes all components in the formula, resulting in a mellow taste. Bottling is controlled at 51.4% ABV, almost equivalent to 90 British proof, that Nikka blenders determined through repeated experiments to achieve the ideal taste profile.
Chichibu Distillery has its roots all the way back to the 1940s when Ichiro’s family started producing whisky at Hanyu Distillery. Eventually, the downturn of whisky in the 1990s forced Hanyu to close its doors. Ichiro still releases some of the Hanyu whisky under the Playing Card series. This whisky has become legendary alongside the whisky produced at his now-owned distillery, Chichibu. In 2008 he built his current distillery and has quickly become a Japanese Whisky fan favorite. TASTE US-exclusive blend of malt and grain whiskies vatted and matured by Chichibu Distillery in Saitama, Japan – Whiskies include Scotch, Canadian rye, American whiskey, Irish whiskey, and Ichiro’s Japanese single malt – Aged 4–17 years in a combination of cask types including ex–Bourbon and ex–rye whiskey barrels Brand Tasting Notes: Sweet aromas of cola, shortbread, and tobacco precede a palate highlighting candied orange and dried pineapple with subtle peat smoke on a finish flush with tropical fruit and sea salt.
SPECIAL NOTES
The latest edition of Chichibu’s exclusive release to the U.S. features an anachronistic label change featuring Commodore Matthew Perry enjoying a dram of Ichiro’s whiskey in the U.S. Capitol surrounded by the cherry blossom trees gifted from Tokyo Mayor Yukio Ozaki and Dr. Jokichi Takamine in 1909.
