Hibiki Harmony 30th Anniversary Limited Edition Japanese Whisky

Hibiki is a blend of over ten malts and grains featuring Yamazaki, Hakushu, and Chita all aged in five types of cask. The non-age statement Japanese Harmony was intoriduced in 2015, following the discontinuation of the 12 year old as the entry level to the core range. This limited edition was released in late 2018 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the first Hibiki blend being released in 1989.

As always with Hibiki the Hibiki Harmony 30th Anniversary Limited Edition bottle always has 24 facets representing the 24 seasons of the Japanese lunar calendar.

Developed by fourth generation chief blender Shinji Fukuyo with production overseen by third generation master blender and great-grandson of the founder, Shingo Torii.

This rich, elemental, and extraordinarily rare limited edition is born from a partnership between our Director of Whisky Creation, Dr Bill Lumsden, and Japanese botanical artist, Azuma Makoto.

Dr Bill’s bespoke whisky creation is an ode to all natural elements, from the depths of the ground through the complex flora and fauna. It is truly a remarkable tribute to the wonder of the living world and emanates from Dr Bill’s inspiration as a result of Azuma’s own masterpiece. The release showcases how nature, in all its forms, can be personified in an exquisite whisky.

In order to express the complexity of our natural world, Dr Bill first took a classic Glenmorangie, long aged in ex-bourbon casks, heady with aromas of lemon balsam and orchids. He then united that single malt with the first whisky from Glenmorangie to be finished in casks which once held Chardonnay white wine from the Meursault appellation in Burgundy. Inspired by that whisky’s complex notes of flowers, rain-soaked moss and earthy notes, Azuma Makoto created a botanical masterpiece, which now adorns our whisky.

Back in the 1960s through the 80s, distilleries were having trouble selling their whiskey in bottles so they started creating unique bottlings through the use of Decanters. Old Crow, which was owned and produced by National Distillers created a full chess set of decanter bottles, complete with all pieces and the ability to send them postage to receive a carpeted chessboard as well. The whiskey inside is 86pf and age stated 10 years, but is among some of the highest rated whiskey by vintage enthusiasts that has ever been produced.

Note: Old decanters could possibly have some minor leakage during transit.  We will do everything to prevent leakage but some is frequently expected and we cannot be held liable for minor leakage.  Major issues - please contact us (such as decanter breakage, significant leakage) and please have pictures/video available.

A 100 proof, small batch from Heaven Hill.

Named after the company founder, William Heavenhill, this 3rd edition is a small batch comprised of less than 12 barrels, selected by Master Distillers, Craig and Parker Beam. The vatting has been aged for 132 months.
