Eagle Rare 10 Year is Buffalo Trace Distillery's low-rye Kentucky straight bourbon, aged at least a full decade and bottled at 90 proof — and over the last few years it has quietly become one of the most hunted "everyday" bottles in America.

Here's the part newer collectors often miss: Eagle Rare comes from Buffalo Trace's low-rye mash bill — the same recipe family behind George T. Stagg and E.H. Taylor. Buffalo Trace never publishes its mash bills, but this grouping is one of bourbon's worst-kept secrets — so what you're really holding is Buffalo Trace's juice with years of extra Kentucky warehouse time. The brand predates the modern bourbon boom by decades: master distiller Charles L. Beam launched Eagle Rare in 1975, and Sazerac brought it to what's now Buffalo Trace in 1989. Longtime fans still remember when the label read "Single Barrel" — a designation that quietly came off when a new bottling line could no longer guarantee every bottle drew from one barrel — exactly the kind of trivia that wins bourbon night.

In the glass it drinks older than its age statement: toasted oak and leather up front, then honey, orange peel, and dark chocolate, closing on a long, dry finish that rewards patience. It's the rare allocated bottle that's equally at home poured neat for a mentor or opened on a Tuesday.

Finding one is the hard part — and that's where we come in. Every bottle here comes from authenticated and verified sources, is packed white-glove, and in most cases ships the same day. No lotteries, no lists, no luck required. And if you're curious what Eagle Rare tasted like before the Buffalo Trace era, our vintage collection is the time machine — Lawrenceburg-era bottles surface there when we hunt them down.

Common questions

Why is Eagle Rare 10 Year so hard to find?
Demand outgrew supply. Eagle Rare became allocated as the bourbon boom collided with a fixed inventory of decade-old barrels — you can't rush ten years of aging — and most stores receive only a handful of bottles at a time.

Is Eagle Rare the same as Buffalo Trace bourbon?
Same distillery, same low-rye recipe family — but Eagle Rare is aged no less than ten years, considerably longer than the flagship Buffalo Trace, which deepens the oak, leather, and dark-sugar character.

Is Eagle Rare 10 a good gift?
One of the safest gifts in bourbon — instantly recognized by enthusiasts, approachable for newcomers.

Aromas of fruit, baked fully-ripened agave, green olive, and earth are invitingly present. Slightly brighter and a touch more rustic than the regular blanco, the accents of butter, olive, earth, black pepper, and vegetal qualities in the flavor are enhanced because it comes straight from our small copper pot still, without adding water prior to bottling.

For years, the only way to sample this was to visit our distillery in Tequila, Jalisco. Until now.

*All Fathertime Boubon Bottles Signed by Jim Gaffigan!*

From Jim:

As I continue to learn and “do research” on bourbon, I’ve grown to appreciate stronger pours. That’s why I decided to bottle some of Fourth & Long at cask strength (125.6 proof).

I affectionately refer to this expression as “Empty Nester Strength.” When children finally leave the home, parents enter a unique stage in their journey. While empty nesters are often characterized as being victoriously liberated from parental responsibilities, they sometimes also experience a level of grief. The grip of love and fear that permeates parenting grows a little tighter. And some nights that calls for a stronger bourbon.

The Rising Tide "Rye Vault" Bundle: Old Stubborn Single Barrel Rye & Old Swagger 12-Year

The Final Reserve. 25 Years of Rye Heritage. A Bottled-in-Bond Masterclass.

When the Old Stubborn Straight Rye first debuted, it set a new benchmark for what extra-aged rye could be—and promptly sold out across the country in a few hours. Known for its dark, brooding complexity, it left enthusiasts searching for the final few bottles.

Today, we are opening the archives. This exclusive bundle features our final Safety Stock of the sold-out Old Stubborn Rye, paired with its legendary 4th Release sibling, the Old Swagger 12-Year Rye. This is a "Double Rye" powerhouse—two bottles, two decades of aging, and two distinct expressions of the prestigious standard.

The Rye Dynasty:

1. Old Stubborn Single Barrel Cask Strength Rye (The Reserve)

• The Status: Sold Out. This is part of our final "Vault" allocation.

• The Profile: A dark, "teenage" rye that has traded its youthful herbal notes for deep, rich complexity. Expect a heavy mouthfeel with layers of blackcurrant, dark molasses, and charred espresso beans, finished with a sophisticated "grip" of aged oak tannins.

2. Old Swagger 12-Year Cask Strength Straight Rye

• The Vibe: The ultimate expression of "The Kentucky Chew" in rye form.

• The Profile: A slightly brighter but equally complex companion. This 12-year masterpiece delivers cinnamon-dusted ginger, salted caramel, and toasted rye bread. It provides the perfect balance of heat and honeyed sweetness.

The Collector’s Finale

This bundle is a study in the subtle, transformative power of that "extra year." By tasting the side-by-side, you experience the pinnacle of Rising Tide's maturation program. Both spirits, single distillery, single season, aged in federally bonded warehouses—ensuring unparalleled quality in every drop.
