The auction generated almost a million dollars and was intended to be for the first ever hand selected single barrel of Pappy Van Winkle 15 year. This is not the first single barrel of Pappy Van Winkle 15 year, however it is as advertised by Buffalo Trace, the first actual selection of a single barrel.

This very limited 20-year-old bourbon whiskey lives up to its name, maturing twice as long as the standard Eagle Rare 10-year-old bourbon and featuring two beautifully-sculpted crystal glass eagles in the Double Eagle decanter.

A true collectors’ item, Double Eagle Very Rare is presented in a luxurious silver box and crystal decanter. Very few bottles were produced, with an individually-numbered letter of authenticity included with each.

There were 499 bottles produced of the Double Eagle Very Rare 20 Year Bourbon. Bottles have a 2019 laser code etched into them although Buffalo Trace did not release them until 2020.
