OLD FORESTER 2012 BIRTHDAY BOURBON

For this bourbon, the malt ratio was increased in our mash bill before putting it into the fermenter, which resulted in a noticeably nutty spirit. Once barreled, the barrel was stored high up on the 4th floor of Warehouse H, where it experienced a balanced maturation. This lofty location gave an unusual amount to the Angel’s Share, resulting in a richly intense flavor concentration.

AROMA
Reddish orange. Rich and elegant with sweet notes of caramelized orange peel, honeysuckle, vanilla, marzipan and toasted marshmallow oak.

TASTE
Full of ripe fruit character with oak sweetness, warming spices and almond nuttiness.

FINISH
Long and warming with a delicate honey combed oak note.

Iconic original Stitzel Weller mashbill of the Pappy Van Winkle 20.  This bottle is truly a unicorn as it was barreled in 1989 just as Van Winkle was on its rise.   No other bourbon today can stand 20 years of aging, but this bourbon does it with style. From the legendary Blanton's Distillery, this limited edition single barrel bourbon is a collaboration between Buffalo Trace and La Maison du Whisky, the renowned French spirits retailer. Each barrel is hand-selected by La Maison du Whisky's experts, ensuring a truly unique and exceptional experience.

This year's River Edition is bottled at cask strength, revealing its full-bodied flavor and complexity. On the nose, aromas of rich vanilla, caramel, and oak greet you. The first sip brings notes of dark fruit, spice, and honey, followed by a long, lingering finish.

Aged for a minimum of 6 years in Warehouse H, the heart of the Blanton's Distillery, this bourbon has developed a rich and complex flavor profile. The unique microclimate of Warehouse H, with its high humidity and fluctuating temperatures, allows the bourbon to mature more quickly and develop unique characteristics.

The Blanton's La Maison du Whisky 2023 Single Barrel River Edition is a must-have for any bourbon enthusiast. Its limited availability and cask strength bottling make it a truly special and collectible whiskey.

One of the last years that Pappy Van Winkle 23 was bottled using Stitzel-Weller juice before Buffalo Trace began using its own barrels for producing Pappy Van Winkle.

This is a wonderful expression distilled at the famous Stitzel Weller distillery, at a time when higher proof whiskey was not popular, in fact most of the highest proof whiskey being released was either 100pf or 101pf. This was a release that came in at 107pf and some bottles came with a hang tag note that says "this is what distillers drink" because with the slightly higher proof you can generally get more flavorful and thick whiskey. Stitzel Weller brought the wheated bourbon recipe into the spotlight and now wheated bourbons are some of the most sought after style of whiskey being produced, however none are able to replicate the intricate flavors from Stitzel Weller.

Back in the 1960s through the 80s, distilleries were having trouble selling their whiskey in bottles so they started creating unique bottlings through the use of Decanters. Old Crow, which was owned and produced by National Distillers created a full chess set of decanter bottles, complete with all pieces and the ability to send them postage to receive a carpeted chessboard as well. The whiskey inside is 86pf and age stated 10 years, but is among some of the highest rated whiskey by vintage enthusiasts that has ever been produced.

The Armagnac-aged rye whiskey named Best in Show after the blind tasting at 2017's San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Black Prince is a 4th edition of the boss hog. It is the first Rye Whiskey ever finished in Armagnac casks, straight from France. Expect bold, powerful spice on the palate with notes of apricot, clove, and cinnamon. Named Best in Show at the San Francisco Worlds Spirits Competition.

Since the beginning of the colonial days in America, Marylanders have been trailblazing what has become the state’s signature style of rye whiskey. In the decades leading up to Prohibition, Maryland along with Pennsylvania and Kentucky led the nation in the production of distilled spirits and Maryland rye whiskey was imitated and sought after throughout the land. After Prohibition, the Maryland whiskey industry never fully recovered, and what was revived died a slow death, with the last Maryland whiskey distillery ceasing production in 1972. For the following forty years, the once-great Maryland whiskey lineage that spanned more than two centuries was no more.

MD Heritage Rye was recently started by two friends of ours in the spirits industry and was built to showcase some of the amazing brands and labels that existed during the long distilling history of Maryland.  Their first 3 releases are each made up of unique blends all consisting of 14 year MGP (Indiana distilled) rye, bottled at cask strength, which is considered some of the most sought after rye on the market today.  With a 14 year age statement this is also some of the oldest MGP rye released to the market in recent history and almost unheard of in the market today as most of the rye being released is half that age.  We had the privilege of sampling these 3 blends and they are all fantastic.  This is your chance to own a piece of "new history" and to celebrate the distilling history of Maryland.
