Iconic original Stitzel Weller mashbill of the Pappy Van Winkle 20.  This bottle is truly a unicorn as it was barreled in 1991 just as Van Winkle was on its rise.   No other bourbon today can stand 20 years of aging, but this bourbon does it with style. 2014 Bottling

The smooth, oak flavor blends well with the barrel proof. Selected from barrels in the heart of our Kentucky warehouse, it has remained untouched for 15 years and unhurried by time."

In 2017 Buffalo Trace released the 15 year bottling with a red foil topper instead of the traditional black.   These bottlings became known as “Santa pappy” and are extremely collectible amongst bourbon enthusiasts.

*Note that bottle does have wax cracks. This is normal for wax from this era bottling and considered a hairline crack. See photos for reference*

These particular expressions of the van winkle line up contained whiskey distilled prior to Buffalo Trace at the Old Fitzgerald distillery which was producing the famous stitzel-weller distillate used for this bottle.

Likely from 2003 due to the no letter series bottle number and the wax top which stopped in 2007.   These particular expressions of the van winkle line up contained whiskey distilled prior to Buffalo Trace at the Old Fitzgerald distillery which was producing the famous stitzel-weller distillate used for this bottle.
