Since its creation in 1818 by husband and wife, Elisabeth Salmon and Nicolas-Francois Billecart, the Billecart-Salmon Champagne House has remained independent, having preserved all of its know-how and demand for high-quality cuvees for 7 generations.

The vineyard

The Billecart-Salmon vineyard covers 100 hectares from the Cote des Blancs to the Reims mountain. The vines are cultivated and cared for in a traditional manner so that the wine resembles real fruit and to reflect the quality of its Champagne terroir.

Blend

This Brut Rose by the Billecart-Salmon House is the product of a blend of Chardonnay (40%), Pinot Meunier (30%) and Pinot Noir (30%).

The 2022 Sonoma Coast vintage delivered exceptional quality despite significant challenges, beginning with beneficial winter rains following 2021's drought and elevated early-season temperatures. A predominantly cool summer was disrupted by an unprecedented Labor Day heat surge, accelerating harvest and further reducing already diminished yields from spring frost. Compact berries and clusters produced wines of remarkable concentration and depth. Our meticulous approach emphasized night harvesting, careful cluster selection for whole-cluster fermentation, and gentle processing via optical sorting and gravity-flow techniques. The vintage ultimately delivered wines of extraordinary quality despite limited volumes, demonstrating the resilience of Sonoma Coast vineyards through a season of climatic extremes.

Vibrant red fruits define the nose with fresh cherry and pomegranate seeds at the forefront, complemented by hints of nutmeg and cardamom adding nuanced complexity, while bright raspberry notes provide depth and richness.

With five signature elements – intense fruit character, creamy texture, vanilla oak, butter, and mouthwatering acidity- this wine is the benchmark California Chardonnay, revered by critics and consumers around the world.

Ripe peach, citrus fruits, spice, and pie crust aromas all mingle and lift from the glass. The citrus supported by notes of apricot continues onto the palate which is concentrated with a rich, creamy middle palate, and strong supporting acidity. The finish is long and marked with hints of vanilla. This wine will continue to build richness as it ages in the bottle.

Open and expressive on the nose, with notes of wild hedgerow fruits, crushed rose petals and sun-warmed red cherry.
The palate is finely tuned, with silky tannins and a pure dart of acidity framing and balancing out a core of summer berries, soft spices and a touch of biscuity vanilla. Long on the finish, this wine evokes warm summer evenings, strawberries nestled under shaded leaves and the lingering scent of barbecue smoke.
