As founding father of the bourbon industry, Colonel Edmund Haynes Taylor, Jr. left an indelible legacy. His dedication to distilling began at the close of the Civil War when he purchased O.F C. Distillery. There, he developed innovative techniques that are still in use today. Made by hand, this Small Batch Bourbon Whiskey has been aged inside century old warehouses constructed by E.H. Taylor, Jr. Barrels are evaluated and selected to create a perfect blend of distinctive character that is like no other. This bourbon is a true sipping bourbon that honors the uncompromising legacy of E.H. Taylor, Jr.

The Clase Azul The Loft Brooklyn Collection III Añejo Tequila is the third installment in the brand's exclusive limited-release series tied to The Loft, Clase Azul's invitation-only events space in the Dumbo neighborhood of Brooklyn. Building on the foundation of Collection I (2024) and Collection II, the Collection III decanter is a black ceramic vessel created in collaboration with Brooklyn-based artists, continuing the series' tradition of pairing exceptional Añejo liquid with site-specific artistry that honors New York City's architectural and cultural identity. Each bottle ships in a one-liter format and is produced in highly limited quantities — earlier editions in the series were capped at approximately 1,000 bottles globally.
Inside the decanter, Collection III continues the Clase Azul tradition of premium Añejo production. The liquid is distilled from 100% Blue Weber agave grown in the highlands of Jesús María, Jalisco, then aged for a minimum of 20 months in American whiskey barrels — the standard maturation profile that defines the Loft Brooklyn series. Earlier editions added a secondary finishing period in Calvados (French apple-brandy) casks, building layers of caramelized fruit, baking spice, and warm oak on top of the cooked-agave foundation. Every bottle reflects Master Distiller Viridiana Tinoco's signature approach to extended-age Añejo production, hand-finished and individually inspected before release.
Expect a layered profile typical of Clase Azul Añejo at this aging depth — cooked agave, vanilla, dried fig, baked apple, toasted oak, and a long, gently spiced finish. It drinks well neat or over a single large cube.
*Note that bottle does have wax cracks. This is normal for wax from this era bottling and considered a hairline crack. See photos for reference*
These particular expressions of the van winkle line up contained whiskey distilled prior to Buffalo Trace at the Old Fitzgerald distillery which was producing the famous stitzel-weller distillate used for this bottle.
The E.H. Taylor Cured Oak bottling offers lots of fruit on the nose, surprising for a whiskey that, remember, is 17 years in barrel—making it, by far, the oldest E.H. Taylor ever released. Red apple, some cherry, and mint hit the nostrils…all preludes for an engaging and impressively complex body. Lighter than you’d think given the 100 proof alcohol level, it pushes more of that fruit on the palate, laced with vanilla and a bit of lumberyard, before settling into a sultry, dark cocoa note. Beautiful balance, moderate but lush finish.

TASTING NOTES:
Tastes of caramel corn sweetness, mingled with butterscotch and licorice. The aftertaste is a soft mouth-feel that turns into subtle spices of pepper and tobacco.
