This is the fourth edition of William Heavenhill, and was distilled at Bernheim and bottled at cask strength 15 years later in Bardstown in a one-time run.

Bernheim is a historic Kentucky distillery. It was established by the Bernheim Brothers in the late 19th century, before passing into the hands of the Schenley company following the repeal of Prohibition. When Schenley were bought over by United Distillers in 1987, the distillery was rebuilt as the new owners looked to consolidate their production to a single facility. When United Distillers became Diageo in 1997, the new parent company were interested in bourbon, and sold the distillery to Heaven Hill. Heaven Hill were established in 1935, but their long-serving Bardstown distillery was lost in a devastating fire in 1996. Homeless for three years, the company acquired Bernheim in 1999, and have produced all of their whiskey there ever since.

Mister Sam Tribute Whiskey, named in honor of Samuel Bronfman, is a highly-limited blend of Sazerac’s finest Canadian and American whiskeys.

The mighty Sam Bronfman, Seagram’s first master blender, revolutionized the art of blending as he built his Seagram Company into a massive spirits empire. Our Master Blender, Drew Mayville, comes from this Seagram master blender lineage. Before he came to Sazerac, Mayville was the last master blender at Seagram’s and his mentor was Seagram Master Blender Art Dawe, who worked directly with Sam Bronfman. Mayville created this perfect blend through experimentation and precision and it is fittingly bottled at our Old Montreal Distillery in Montreal, Quebec.

This release comes three months after Michter's was named The World's Most Admired Whiskey for an unprecedented third time. In August, Drinks International published the 2025 list of the World's Most Admired Whiskies. The rankings are determined by an international academy consisting of 100 independent global drinks buyers, journalists, bartenders and whisky experts, and it includes legendary distillers from Scotland, Japan, Ireland, and beyond.

By law bourbon must be aged in a brand new barrel, which imparts flavor, color and oak character more quickly than a used barrel. To age a whiskey that will taste wonderful after two decades in a first-use barrel is an extremely difficult endeavor that requires a skillful balance of art and science. Barrel management and precisely controlled warehouse conditions are critical to the quality of aged whiskey. Master of Maturation Andrea Wilson oversees both of these important areas for Michter's. This version, 2.0, was a 13 year indiana bourbon sourced from MGP Ingredients (one of the largest whiskey and grain producers in the world) bottled as just a single barrel containing a total of 140 bottles, whereas every other release has had at least 1500 bottles. There’s no shortage of rye on the nose, giving this bourbon an intense spice character from the start, pushing forward notes of clove, cinnamon, ample barrel char, and some gentle mint notes that grow in strength the longer the whiskey’s in the glass. There’s a lightly rolling, toasty grain character on the palate, and lots more chocolate here than expected. Though bottled at over 55% abv, the whiskey drinks beautifully without water, lush (but racy) on the palate with notes of scorched citrus, caramel, vanilla, and more of that gentle barrel char lingering on the finish.
