Unit price perRhetoric 25 Year Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is the sixth and final in the Rhetoric Series of progressively aged whiskeys from the Orphan Barrel Whiskey Distilling Company. Diageo's Orphan Barrel Whiskey Distilling Company is a series of bottles that came from barrels that were abandoned or forgotten at rickhouses and distilleries. Aged 6 years longer than the first release, it is slightly more mature and carries a 90.6 proof. The whiskey will continue to be progressively aged and were re-released annually at a year older.
Uncut and unfiltered, this hand-bottled bourbon is barrel proof. Weller substitutes wheat for the traditional rye grain, a production method pioneered by W.L. Weller. Fragrant scents of caramel corn, new leather, plums, light toffee and pipe tobacco. The palate tastes of marshmallow, salted almonds, nougat, figs and dates. This whiskey finishes smooth, composed and flavorfully sweet.

T8ke's Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Maple and brown sugar, French vanilla, cinnamon, baking spice and rich oak.
- Taste: Rich on the palate, layered, big, buttery texture. Pleasant oak - not too dry, but plenty of influence and structure here. Vanilla bean, toffee, tobacco, some black pepper and baking spice, sweet cream and a hint of cocoa.
- Finish: Long, packed with dessert and baking spice, pleasant oak but not too drying, great blend of cocoa, cinnamon, pepper, brown sugar and sweet caramels.
- Overall: Blended to be big and complex, sweet with plenty of spice and tannin to balance nicely.
When our master blender discovered the last remaining stores of Orphan Barrel whiskies from years gone by, he thought it only fitting to share these whiskies with the world. He married the remaining stocks of Barterhouse, Forged Oak and various Rhetoric releases with aged rye and corn whiskies to create a masterful blend that pays homage to the original releases yet possesses a distinct profile all its own. This 14-year-old whiskey is a unique balance of age and flavor accenting the rich, creamy character of the orphaned bourbons with the spiciness of the aged rye whiskey. It begins with a burst of spice and delicately warms to a creamy richness with sweet notes of syrup and fruit.

This 13-year breaks the mold as it is one of the oldest rye whiskeys available today. The maturity it has achieved while aging is quite obvious when you take the first sip. A soft nose of chestnuts, spice, vanilla and fruit. Features flavors of cocoa, vanilla, spice, and white pepper. A long, warm and complex finish with caramel and spice combined with dry oak.

A masterful union of well-bred bourbons-each on its own a ryed to be remembered. One, a 14-year-- dark with oak, leather and tobacco. Two, an 8-year—toasty warm with cinnamon, allspice and nutmeg. And three, a 7-year—full of roasted caramel and honeyed raisin, then rested and mellowed in Cognac casks for a finish that’s all Kentucky heat with a wisp of crème brulee sweet. A votre santé.

T8ke's Tasting Notes: Rich nose with graham cracker, baked apples, sweet toffee and decadent vanilla. The palate is layered and complex; baking spices like cinnamon and nutmeg join cracked pepper, sweet vanilla, rich caramel, a hint of baked apple here with sweet pastry and a bit of brown butter. Moderate, clean finish with sweet desserts and spice, clean and precise with all dessert and no hug. It's decadent yet easy drinking, full of flavor and makes a silly good old fashioned.
Michter’s 10 Year Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Rye continues the legacy of America’s first whiskey variety (rye) from America’s first whiskey company (Michter’s, originally known as Shenk’s). Deep notes of vanilla and toffee, toasted almonds and cinnamon with an ample dose of crushed pepper and a hint of orange citrus

- T8ke's Tasting Notes: Hefty and rye driven on the nose: bold sweetness, heavy rye spice, a crackle of ginger, toffee, oak, a hint of herbal pop, and gobs of sticky toffee and pleasant tannin. What strike me most is the ebb and flow of rye spice - peaking both on the palate and the nose: big sweetness gives way to pronounced rye spice, which gives way back to balancing oak, baking spice and undercurrents of sweet, dessert character. It has the vibrancy and the pop and crackle of the ryes I love most with the backbone, tannin and underlying sweetness to bring big complexity without shrouding how rye forward the pour is. Long finish, honey, cracked pepper, brown sugar and baking spice, hints of herbal and minty rye with cherries, tobacco and decadent spice.
COLOR: Bright burnished copper
NOSE: Brown sugar, molasses, light baking spices with orange peel
PALATE: gentle with notes of butterscotch, subtle oak, cloves
FINISH: Long, warm, with tannins and peppery tingle, followed by hint of barrel char
Distillery: Heaven Hill
City: Bardstown, KY
Style: Straight bourbon whiskey
ABV: 50% (100 proof)
