Little Book “The Easy” features uncut, unfiltered Kentucky Straight Bourbon blended with corn whiskey, rye whiskey, and malt whiskey – the three ingredients commonly found in a bourbon mash bill—to create an easy-drinking whiskey that’s blended to be one of a kind. 

It all started when I was working in our Global Innovation Center, learning all about blending. I looked at the different types of whiskies available and saw that we had individual corn, rye and malt barrels. I wondered, “If you blend those together to the exact proportions of a bourbon mash bill, will it taste like bourbon?” So I tried it. I blended 4-year-old corn, rye, and malt whiskey, and let me tell you, it didn’t taste like bourbon at all! The corn whiskey overpowered everything else, since the rye whiskey also had some corn in it. 

It wasn’t balanced at all. That’s when I was inspired to blend in the fourth component—some actual finished bourbon whiskey.

When I started my search, our team gave me access to nearly every barrel we had in storage. I tasted and tinkered with bourbon aged six and even nine years, trying to achieve just what I was looking for in my inaugural release. What I found was that blending in four-year-old bourbon did what those others could not—ensured that all ingredients could complement each other without a single piece overpowering the final taste profile.

I found the balance I was looking for. And with it, a new whiskey I’m truly proud of.

The oldest expression from Carlos Camarena's Tapatio brand. Distilled from matured agave at La Altena distillery in Arandas. Aromas of fresh lumber, eucalyptus, and vanilla black tea. Round body with long finish filled with cherry-almond, dark roasted agave, and baking spice.

This rich, elemental, and extraordinarily rare limited edition is born from a partnership between our Director of Whisky Creation, Dr Bill Lumsden, and Japanese botanical artist, Azuma Makoto.

Dr Bill’s bespoke whisky creation is an ode to all natural elements, from the depths of the ground through the complex flora and fauna. It is truly a remarkable tribute to the wonder of the living world and emanates from Dr Bill’s inspiration as a result of Azuma’s own masterpiece. The release showcases how nature, in all its forms, can be personified in an exquisite whisky.

In order to express the complexity of our natural world, Dr Bill first took a classic Glenmorangie, long aged in ex-bourbon casks, heady with aromas of lemon balsam and orchids. He then united that single malt with the first whisky from Glenmorangie to be finished in casks which once held Chardonnay white wine from the Meursault appellation in Burgundy. Inspired by that whisky’s complex notes of flowers, rain-soaked moss and earthy notes, Azuma Makoto created a botanical masterpiece, which now adorns our whisky.

Old Carter Straight Bourbon Whiskey - Batch 6 (106.5)

One whiff confirms the luscious benefits of long aging in American oak. Soft aromas of roasted agave, clean vanilla, rich caramel, and smoked nuts merge in a pleasing harmony.

The experience begins with a decadently rich mouthfeel that’s velvety smooth. Long barrel aging mellows the character of the roasted agave, bringing out hints of cooked caramel, dried fruits, and coffee for a finely nuanced complexity.

Rewards agave lovers with the ripe essence of the plant itself, roasted to perfection to bring out its herbaceous depths. A deeper sniff reveals fragrant undertones of fresh herbs and citrus fruits.

Utterly clean and clear, with an exquisitely bright mouthfeel.  Savory notes of intense agave balanced with flavors of pineapple on the mid-palate.  

Light straw in color, our Reposado tequila presents a delicate, charming nose. The distinctive herbal aroma of roasted agave is delicately balanced with subtle notes of ripe coconut, vanilla and sweet American oak.

Lusciously supple and warming, this agave tequila is rich with succulent flavors, thanks to barrel aging in American oak. Sweet flavors of light caramel and dried fruits lead to subtle notes of vanilla and roasted nuts.

The only bottle in the entire mid Atlantic region. This bottle is truly a collectors luxury piece. This exquisite, deep amber tequila is a world-class spirit and its decanter is adorned with 3 precious metals: pure platinum, sterling silver, and a 24 carat gold.  Each bottle is truly one of a kind!

The first release of the Booker’s® Bourbon 2022 Collection is Booker’s Batch 2022-01 ‘Ronnie’s Batch.’ This batch is named in honor of Ronnie Land, a longtime employee at the Jim Beam Clermont and Boston, K.Y.

FREDDIE'S NOTE

With “Lessons Honored” I wanted to pay homage to my father, Fred, and the lessons he passed down about bourbon and life. A lot of the lessons Dad taught me go back to honesty and integrity. Being true to yourself is something that’s very important in our family and that carries over into our whiskey brands. Each liquid was chosen because of a connection to my dad and a lesson he taught me. The base of the blend is a Kentucky Straight Brown Rice Bourbon which reminds me of the first project I ever really handled on my own at the distillery. The “high rye” rye whiskey is an ode to Booker’s Rye, an award-winning product created in 2017 and one of the first that Dad and I tasted together. It was a legendary release in honor of my granddaddy Booker Noe, and it was very special to play a small part in selecting and bottling the liquid with my dad. The last liquid Dad actually helped pick, though he didn’t know it at the time. I brought him samples of a few liquids at different ages, and he ultimately picked this 7-year old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, which is representative of our Small Batch Collection.Crafting this bourbon wasn’t as difficult as previous years, because I had such a strong vision for the blend going into the liquid selection. In total, we tested 22 different blends in comparison to previous chapters where we tested more than 40. I spent most of my time perfecting the blend itself to balance the flavors and taste profile to create the final product.This year’s blue neck tag is also an ode to my dad’s favorite sports team
