It has a mild peat flavor, deep richness and sweet and sour taste, with a heavy and pleasant bitterness that lingers for a long time.
Bottled in Bond - Distilled in 1921 and bottled in 1933, this rye whiskey was distilled and protected in bond by the American Medicinal Spirits Company from the Prohibition Act of 1920, which made alcohol production and consumption illegal. The Mount Vernon brand was produced at the Gwynnbrook Distillery in Maryland. The American Medicinal Spirits Company was one of only around 30 distilling companies to survive Prohibition of the 434 that existed prior. Exploiting the medicinal loophole was the brainchild of Otto Wathen, an idea which continues to prove its value today in the persisting image of his still ever-popular portfolio, which included Old Grand-dad and Hill & Hill. The American Medicinal Spirits Company would go on to become National Distillers following the repeal of the Prohibition laws, and Mount Vernon continued as one of the key products in their portfolio.

Michter’s 10 Year Single Barrel Kentucky Straight Rye continues the legacy of America’s first whiskey variety (rye) from America’s first whiskey company (Michter’s, originally known as Shenk’s). Deep notes of vanilla and toffee, toasted almonds and cinnamon with an ample dose of crushed pepper and a hint of orange citrus
This stunning Michter's Sour Mash Celebration Whiskey is a blend of six rye and bourbon barrels, ranging in ages from over 10 years old up to 33 years old, meaning this beauty exhibits some of the oldest American whiskey ever bottled! Unveiled in 2016 as the second release in the Michter's Celebration Whiskey series - the first and third were released in 2013 and 2019, respectively. The release was the swan song of Michter's Master Distiller, Willie Pratt before he was replaced by Pamela Heilmann as the first female since Prohibition to serve as master distiller at a Kentucky Distillers' Association distillery.
Widely considered some of the best rye that has ever been produced, this Michter's 25 year rye from 2014 is a must have for all collectors and consumers. This particular bottle was a rare export to Taiwan and actually reflects native language on the back of the bottle. These are exceedingly valuable to collectors as the rarity of such an incredible bottle into Taiwan makes them much more difficult to find than the American releases.
**This is the 2020 release**
Michter’s 25 Year Old Bourbon comes from the era when Michter’s was still buying its whiskey from outside sources. However, Magliocco says, “We picked the style we wanted to make ourselves.” And, indeed, its bold flavor is immediately recognizable as Michter’s. Bottled at a barrel strength, it comes on a little tannic, but the black pepper and oaky notes quickly give way to dark fruit, brown sugar, and caramel. Dark chocolate makes an appearance on the back of the tongue, followed by a long, dry tobacco and leather finish. Bourbons that can age in wood for a quarter-century and still retain so much complexity are few and far between.
*May be a different batch/bottle number*
For the first time since 2022, Master Distiller Dan McKee and Master of Maturation Andrea Wilson have approved the release of Michter's 20 Year Kentucky Straight Bourbon.
"It's always a special event for us at Michter's when we bottle and release some whiskey that is over two decades old," commented Michter's President Joseph J. Magliocco. "Unlike Scotch and some other aged spirits, bourbon has to mature in a new barrel. Reaching ages beyond 15 years without the whiskey getting too woody is an achievement that our team strives for. This is an exceptional release, and we only wish we had more to offer."
From Michter's:
While we regularly sample all our Michter’s barrels to see how our whiskey is aging, we pay even extra special attention to our barrels once they are over 17 years old. At Michter’s we consider 17 to 20 years the “Fork In The Road Point” when certain barrels of whiskey can achieve an extraordinary level of quality. It is these particular barrels that our Master Distiller Dan McKee personally selects for our very limited bottling of Michter’s 20 Year Kentucky Straight Bourbon.
*This is the 2019 Bottling*
This version, 2.0, was a 13 year indiana bourbon sourced from MGP Ingredients (one of the largest whiskey and grain producers in the world) bottled as just a single barrel containing a total of 140 bottles, whereas every other release has had at least 1500 bottles. There’s no shortage of rye on the nose, giving this bourbon an intense spice character from the start, pushing forward notes of clove, cinnamon, ample barrel char, and some gentle mint notes that grow in strength the longer the whiskey’s in the glass. There’s a lightly rolling, toasty grain character on the palate, and lots more chocolate here than expected. Though bottled at over 55% abv, the whiskey drinks beautifully without water, lush (but racy) on the palate with notes of scorched citrus, caramel, vanilla, and more of that gentle barrel char lingering on the finish.

Cask #2 in the Bakemono Zukushi “Monster” Scroll-inspired series depicts Daichiuchi, the earthquake maker! This mohawked monster has a bird-like face and wields a mallet—a forceful creature that makes a fitting mascot for this robust, peaty single cask whisky distilled at Mars Tsunuki.
Tasting Notes,
Nose: A creamy nose of tapioca pudding and French vanilla
Palate: Dehydrated green apple, pear flesh, and spikes of peat with a long finish of salted pastry crust, black-pepper-encrusted charcuterie, and extinguished campfire
The Bakemono Zukushi, or "Monster Scroll" can be traced to Japan's Edo period in the 18th or 19th century. The scroll depicts an array of Japanese yokai (spirits) who are taken from the country's local folk lore. The fourth edition of this series features a single unpeated New American Oak hogshead cask from the Komagatake Distillery in Nagano that depicts the large snakelike creature Sarahebi. Also known as a "Nure-onna" not much is known about these mysterious spirits who were thought to come from the sea and rivers.
Typically a 700ml bottling however we usually have some 750s
A collaboration with renowned pastry chef Jordi Roca of three Michelin star restaurant El Celler de Can Roca, this release brings the worlds of chocolate and whisky to life. To create the first limited edition whisky in a new annual release series, The Macallan Whisky Maker Polly Logan embarked on a unique journey to Girona, Spain, where she immersed herself in the world of chocolate, exploring the chocolate-making process and uncovering the distinctive flavour profiles at Casa Cacao.
Polly worked with Jordi Roca, owner of the famed chocolate boutique and hotel, Casa Cacao and the youngest of the acclaimed Roca brothers. As part of the exploration, she also spent time with master chocolatier of Casa Cacao, Damien Allsop.
