Back in the 1960s through the 80s, distilleries were having trouble selling their whiskey in bottles so they started creating unique bottlings through the use of Decanters. Old Crow, which was owned and produced by National Distillers created a full chess set of decanter bottles, complete with all pieces and the ability to send them postage to receive a carpeted chessboard as well. The whiskey inside is 86pf and age stated 10 years, but is among some of the highest rated whiskey by vintage enthusiasts that has ever been produced.

This rye is a tribute to Booker Noe, the legend who served as longtime master distiller for the Beam brands and founded their Small Batch Bourbon Collection (including Booker’s Bourbon and Knob Creek). Put in the barrel back in 2003, the new Booker’s rye was among the “last barrels laid down” by Booker Noe in the final years of his life. Amazingly, Booker’s has never released a rye in all those subsequent years.

A limited release in 2017 and again in 2018, E.H. Taylor Four Grain is made from a “distinct bourbon recipe” using corn, rye, wheat, and malted barley. It was distilled in 2005 and entered into the barrel at 104 proof. According to Buffalo Trace, these are the four grains E.H.Taylor would have had access to in the late 1800s, which is why they were ultimately chosen for this release. In the company’s press release, master distiller Harlen Wheatley states, “We wanted to extract everything we like from both the rye and the wheat mashbills we currently use and combine them to see how they react. Not surprisingly, it added complexity to the finished product.”

As you open the antique latch, it reveals a felt top that has been covering 2 hand-blown glasses and a bottle of Van Winkle Special Reserve Bourbon Aged 12 Years laying gently and securely in a batch of hypoallergenic antique packing straw. The exterior dimensions of this one of a kind gift box are 14.75″W x 10.75″D x 5.75″H. Because each box is handmade, quantities are limited and delivery is expected in 10 business days.

Buffalo Trace Distillery proudly announces the release of Elmer T. Lee 40th Anniversary Edition, the first-ever uncut and unfiltered expression of Elmer T. Lee Single Barrel Bourbon. Debuting four decades after the original Elmer T. Lee Bourbon was released, this limited offering honors the legacy of one of the industry’s most influential pioneers and offers enthusiasts a rare opportunity to experience this iconic whiskey in its purest form.

Elmer T. Lee’s legacy at Buffalo Trace Distillery began in 1949, when he joined the then-George T. Stagg Distillery as a maintenance engineer following his service in World War II and graduation from the University of Kentucky. Over the next four decades, he rose to become Master Distiller, helping guide the Distillery through a transformative era of modernization and growth while shaping the future of bourbon.

A visionary ahead of his time, Lee fundamentally changed the American whiskey landscape in 1984 with the introduction of Blanton’s Single Barrel Bourbon, the world’s first single-barrel bourbon and a concept that helped pioneer the premiumization of bourbon. To honor his enduring impact, the Distillery introduced Elmer T. Lee Single Barrel Bourbon in 1986, a namesake expression that directly reflects his commitment to careful selection and consistency. Its combination of craftsmanship, authenticity and legacy has made it a benchmark for both enthusiasts and collectors.

Now, 40 years after its debut, Buffalo Trace Distillery is unveiling a bold new expression of this connoisseur-respected bourbon. For the first time, Elmer T. Lee Single Barrel Bourbon is presented uncut and unfiltered, drawn directly from the barrel without dilution or chill filtration. This approach  is a reflection of how Elmer evaluated barrels for Blanton’s selection, providing enthusiasts with the opportunity to experience the whiskey as he would have.

The barrels selected for the 40th Anniversary Edition of Elmer T. Lee Bourbon were chosen for their richness and individuality, each bottled at its natural barrel proof to preserve a more robust, unaltered profile. Across the collection, notes of apricot, almond, vanilla, toasted coconut and honeysuckle lead to a rich, chewy palate with crème brûlée-like sweetness and a long finish of toasted oak and baking spice. Ranging from 124.8 to 138.6 proof, each barrel offers a subtle variation in character, structure and intensity.

The latest release in Bardstown Bourbon Company's acclaimed Discovery Series begins with an exceptional blend of 7, 10, and 11-year-old bourbons, showcasing the balance and complexity that have become hallmarks of the series. These high-floor barrels were selected for their balance of fruit and oak, making them perfect to take on the extra structure and sugar of double-barreling. A four-month finishing period in custom-made Garryana oak barrels adds subtle layers of spice and structure, complementing rather than overshadowing the mature Kentucky whiskey at its core.

This year's Discovery is the second Bardstown Bourbon release to explore this prized oak following the highly limited Distillery Reserve Cascadia released earlier this year.

Also known as Oregon White Oak, Garryana is native to the Pacific Northwest and grows most comfortably in the lush Willamette Valley. Prized for its strength and scarcity, its dense grain slows oxidation and evaporation and lends flavors like clove and nutmeg.

Presented at 112.8 proof (66.4% alc. by vol.), 2026 Discovery opens with layers of toasted oak, burnt sugar, and baked apple cobbler. Dried cherry and cinnamon bark emerge across the palate, leading to a long, warming finish accented by the distinctive influence of Garryana oak.

Originally released in 2015, E.H. Taylor, Jr. Cured Oak Bourbon Whiskey is a 100-proof, Bottled-in-Bond bourbon is aged 10 years in barrels constructed from white oak staves that were air-dried for 13 months – more than twice the standard curing time. This extended curing process allows the whiskey to extract deeper, more complex flavors from the oak during maturation. This bourbon delivers a rich and inviting profile with notes of tobacco, dried fruit, vanilla and toffee, complemented by undertones of seasoned oak and a long, dry finish. The expression highlights the profound impact that barrel craftsmanship can have on the final character of a whiskey.

“What you notice with Cured Oak is the added depth and complexity that comes from the extended curing process," said Wheatley. "Most of our barrels are cured for six months, but with this release the extended curing brings forward richer notes that create a longer, more layered finish.”

Highly regarded as the “Father of the Modern Bourbon Industry,” Colonel Taylor purchased O.F.C. Distillery, now known as Buffalo Trace Distillery, in 1869. He is credited with implementing many of the innovative techniques still used today, including advanced grain handling, copper fermentation tanks and steam-heated warehouses. Taylor also played a pivotal role in the passage of the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897, which established quality standards that continue to shape the industry.

Our newest release, Bottled In Bond Bourbon, is a straight bourbon whiskey, produced in-house at our distillery in Wanship, Utah. It’s made in accordance with the standards laid out by the Bottled In Bond Act of 1897. This release is like a single vintage of wine, offering an intimate snapshot of the distiller’s process. One base spirit, crafted at a single distillery, by a single distiller, in a single distilling season. Must be aged a minimum of 4 years and bottled at 100 proof in a federally bonded warehouse.

Experience a high-rye bourbon crafted for bold flavor, featuring a mashbill of 36% rye and 64% non-GMO yellow corn.

Sensory Notes

Nose: Honeycrisp apple, golden raisins, zested kumquat, graham cracker crust, wildflower honey, malted milk chocolate, toasted oak spice, honeycomb in a wicker basket

This sixth edition of William Heavenhill is a limited and unique offering. Less than 60 barrels make up this edition, but they have been dumped into separate small batches to preserve each warehouse's unique aging effect on the barrels.

This is the 5th edition of the William Heavenhill bottlings available only at the Heaven Hill Bourbon Heritage Center in Bardstown, Kentucky. Each edition is bottled to showcase the skills of the master distillers, Denny Potter and Charlie Downs. The 5th edition is a Kentucky straight bourbon aged 14 years with a mash bill of mash bill: 75% corn, 13% rye, 12% malted barley.
