Rhetoric 24 Year Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is the fifth in the Rhetoric Series of progressively aged whiskeys from the Orphan Barrel Whiskey Distilling Company. Diageo's Orphan Barrel Whiskey Distilling Company is a series of bottles that came from barrels that were abandoned or forgotten at rickhouses and distilleries. Aged 5 years longer than the first release, it is slightly more mature and carries a 90.6 proof. The whiskey will continue to be progressively aged and were re-released annually at a year older.
MASHBILL: 68% corn, 20% wheat, 12% malted barley. Dark, rich, and complex, spicy. Dense, dark, and rich caramel, maple syrup, vanilla, honey, dried orange peel, and cherry extract lined with abundant roasted oak. Also, dense roasted sugars – caramel nougat, freshly burnt crème brûlée, vanilla, Nutella-like hazelnut, walnuts and cinnamon. Long finish eases into sweet honey, caramel, and vanilla oakiness with a little alcohol bite that turns into lightly bitter dark chocolate.
*May be a different release than shown in the photo. Please contact us if you are looking for a particular release/bottling year.*
The flagship release of 1787 Provenance, this single barrel, Kentucky Straight Bourbon is an exercise in elegance, complexity and the art of hand selected barrels of our best whiskey.
Crafted in the heart of the Manitoba wilderness, Entrapment captures the promise of adventure and freedom. Entrapment, a jack of all trades, makes its mark but leaves no trace behind. Bright candied lemon zest, rich caramels, and plenty of char notes. It has that ‘smelling the inside of a barrel’ note that’s common in older whiskies, though dissipates quickly within the glass. There’s a nice weight to the nose. It’s reminiscent of old wine in that same way. The palate is a fresh sharp twist of a cut lemon, smack-dab hit on the face. It’s aggressive. The peppery spicy notes warm the palate, offering a electrified hug. The sweet buttery caramel notes we’re accustomed to from Gimli Distillery aren’t there until later in the sip.
From Distillery:
Each year our Master Distillers hand select barrels for this special edition with characteristics unique to that year. Every bottle is marked with the vintage date it was put into oak, along with the year it was bottled and the serial number of the barrel that the Bourbon was drawn from.

- T8ke's Tasting Notes: Hefty and rye driven on the nose: bold sweetness, heavy rye spice, a crackle of ginger, toffee, oak, a hint of herbal pop, and gobs of sticky toffee and pleasant tannin. What strike me most is the ebb and flow of rye spice - peaking both on the palate and the nose: big sweetness gives way to pronounced rye spice, which gives way back to balancing oak, baking spice and undercurrents of sweet, dessert character. It has the vibrancy and the pop and crackle of the ryes I love most with the backbone, tannin and underlying sweetness to bring big complexity without shrouding how rye forward the pour is. Long finish, honey, cracked pepper, brown sugar and baking spice, hints of herbal and minty rye with cherries, tobacco and decadent spice.

Aging our whisky for over 10 years wasn't something we ever did. Not because we didn't believe in it but because we hadn't found our way of doing it. Maker’s Mark® Cellar Aged defines an older whisky that’s distinctly Maker’s. By embracing both the unique impact that our warehouse and cellar maturation have on flavor, we've created an older expression that is richer and more complex whilst staying true to the founder's taste vision of bourbon without the bite.
Rhetoric 20 Year Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is the first of the Rhetoric brand releases from the Orphan Barrel Whiskey Distilling Company. Diageo's Orphan Barrel Whiskey Distilling Company is a series of bottles that came from barrels that were abandoned or forgotten at rickhouses and distilleries. Aged 20 years and the first of the Rhetoric Series, this has become one of the most sought after Orphan Barrel bottles due to its scarcity. Each sip starts with a smoky, leathery nose that translates into vanilla oak, toasted rye, and dried fruits, and concludes with a long, full finish of cherry blossom and bitter chocolate.
Bottled in 2016, The Gifted Horse is one of the rare vintages of Diageo's Orphan Barrel Series, a series of bottles coming from barrels of bourbon discovered from abandoned or forgotten rickhouses and distilleries. The Gifted Horse American Whiskey is a bold, outspoken whiskey one shouldn’t look in the mouth. Always racing straight to the punch, we only ask that you politely accept The Gifted Horse for what it is–it's own unique offering. Some time ago at the historic Stitzel-Weller Distillery, the unthinkable happened. A batch of beautiful 17-year-old Kentucky straight bourbon was accidentally mixed with barrels of much younger whiskey. This error turned out better than expected, as the older bourbon wasn’t marred but transformed into something surprisingly special. Beginning with a nose hinting at apple skin, almond, toffee, raisins, and slight milk chocolate, The Gifted Horse has unique tastes of creamy caramel, Bosc pear, and fruit cake. This unusual blend’s fruity notes become more apparent with a splash of water.
