APPEARANCE
Lustrous pale straw-gold.
BODY
Medium.
NOSE
Mild, drying and soon, wonderfully aromatic; clean, fresh and maritime, with top notes of sea air and Himalayan salt, supported by fragrant smoke-dried Lapsang Souchong tea, mineral salts and light cleansing salve. Beneath these lie drier notes of cocoa powder and dried seaweed, with a squeeze of lemon zest, this salty sweetness imbued with wood-smoke from a distant bonfire on the shore.
PALATE
The texture is smooth and attractively oily; the taste sweet to start then soon growling with an intense lemon acidity, with a sprinkling of sea-salt and persistent char talking each sip. The overall salty-sweet taste is rounded, softened and sweetened by a drop of water.
FINISH
Long, with great waves of smoke, and roaring with chili pepper warmth. Even better with a dash of water. Smoke lasts wonderfully in the aftertaste.
It will make you think twice about Irish whiskey.
While the Bourbon barrels brings a sweetness and smooth vanilla notes, the Oloroso casks layer on depth of dried fruit and Spanish oak spices.
We like to drink it neat, on ice, or with soda. For a delicious Double Barrel cocktail, try The Lough Inn recipe.

The nose is aromatic and appealing with coastal notes, dunnage earth, peat smoke, peppercorns, pickle juice, and oyster shells. Sweet flavors of honey and fudge yield to a spicy intensity that’s quite hot to handle, but as the pepper and saltiness subside, there’s residual notes of vanilla fudge, sweet American oak, and classic Talisker pepperiness lasting long into the finish.
Since its inception in 2012, Black Art is the antithesis to Bruichladdich’s traditional commitment to total transparency. Where everything from exact recipe, cask type and specific barley varietal is usually revealed, Black Art is created in total secrecy, with the consumer putting complete trust in Bruichladdich’s Head Distiller, Adam Hannett.

For this captivating place has soft white sands that sing beneath your feet, a hum that ebbs and flows with the winds and the tides. But beguiling as this place is, do not drop your guard. Bathing is ill-advised in the seemingly tame crystal waters where jagged, volcanic rocks pierce the sands along the shore.
TROPICAL TIDES
Bottled in humidity, this rare small batch 19-year-old Ardbeg is arguably the most tropical dram to leave the Distillery.

Released over 25 years ago in 1997, 17 Years Old was one of the first bottles to leave the Distillery after reopening. Unusually delicate, yet unmistakably Ardbeg, this whisky found a place in the hearts of the Committee, and set an extraordinary standard for our future.
Retired in 2004, Ardbeggians thought that was the last they’d see it. But, while times have been moving quietly on, its return has been years in the making. Dr Bill Lumsden has meticulously crafted this release to mirror the original, retracing the flavour profile note by note, and choosing to bottle at 40% strength, just as it was back then.
This is a Benrinnes single malt double matured, first in refill casks for 15 years, followed by a 6-year second maturation in rejuvenated American and European oak wine casks, as well as rejuvenated casks with charred ends. It was bottled at 55.4% ABV and released as part of the Diageo Special Releases 2024 range.
